Happy Mother's Day
Today was a very emotional day for me. Not because I would be singing in church or doing the benediction, but because it was Mother’s Day. And this Mother’s Day was different than any other before. Not only was I grateful for my mother being here and my mother-in law being here, but Kandis is now carrying a child. In essence she is “mothering” our child, so I had to give homage to her for being a mother.
We’ve talked about it, prayed about it, and cried about it, but she is a mother now. Her decisions have a direct effect on the life of our child. Seeing Kandis with her dress at church and her round belly full of life made me feel happy inside. She came into the church carrying Diamond’s son D’Anjalo which received mixed reaction from some folks. Don’t get me wrong, the reactions were all good, just mixed.
Yesterday I shaved her legs for her for the first time. An "interesting" experience I must admit. I want her to be comfortable in these next few months, so I figured that I better start practicing before the 90-plus temperatures arrive. Nothing would feel less comfortable than hairy legs in the summer heat!
For Mother's Day, I found a “mother-to-be” card and signed it for me and the baby. Kandis wants a pregnancy massage at EMH for her Mother’s Day gift, so I will pick that up next week for her.
But anyway, it was great having my mom at church today. I know that she gets a kick out of me singing in the choir! I hope that she read her sentiment that I had placed in the Mother’s Day bulletin. I also sent one to Kandis and her mom too.
Unfortunately my mother has not been feeling well so she didn’t join me, Kandis, and Mrs. Brank at dinner. We brought some food back for Mema too. So the day included Mother’s from three different generations; Kandis, our moms, and Kandis’ grandmother! What a blessing.
After the day was done, Kandis and I came home and relaxed. She put on some comfortable clothes and put her feet up. As for me, after giving God the praise at church and eating until I nearly busted, I was emotionally spent. I hope that the baby could feel the love on this day; the love that I have for him or her and the love that I have for the mother of our family.
Happy Mother’s Day Kandis from both of us! We love you!
