Just Thinking About The Baby

I really don’t have anything to write about specifically. I am taking a break from my grant writing and I was just thinking about the baby. So I decided to write.

I am literally busting with excitement about my child. It is borderline scary because I think about the baby ALL of the time. I am always checking with Kandis about the baby’s College Fund account. And we recently began a Maternity Leave Fund to cover the additional cost of Kandis staying home for the full 12 weeks. We worked out a good plan that will allow us to maintain while Kandis is at home.

One thing I have not considered is my Paternity Leave. I have not decided on how many days I will stay home. The great thing is that I have an extremely understanding boss and I can do work from home too. I know the baby and mommy will need their rest and I won’t mind running around.

I continue to count down the days as we approach the 20th week of pregnancy. Yes! The half way point. It is so amazing to think that we will have a baby in our house in a few months! This year we will celebrate the first Thanksgiving and the first Christmas with our new child. I am (yes I will say it again) so excited.

I’m so thankful for this blessing. And because of it I would like to end this post with a prayer.

Dear Heavenly Father,
You are so wonderful, so gracious, so merciful, and so faithful
You have given me more than I can ever ask or think
Please continue to place Your protective hand on my wife, my child, my family, my pastor, my friends, and me
I love You with all of my heart and I will continue to do Your will with the help of Your spirit which dwells in me
I humbly ask that You bless Kandis as she goes forth in this pregnancy that has been arranged and ordained by You
Protect her mind, body, and spirit during this miraculous process
Bless our child which we love and acknowledge as being a precious gift from You
We know that when the doctors say, “No”, You can say, “Yes”
Continue to strengthen me throughout these days as I prepare to be a father that will lead and guide our child in the ways ordered by You and Your word
I ask these things through the glorious name of Jesus Christ
The name greater than every other name
My teacher, my friend, and my redeemer
Amen
