95% Full

There is an old saying that determines if a person is an optimist or a pessimist; is the glass half full or half empty? I used to think that both were correct, but now I know better. Why focus on the negative even if it does exist? I now know not to focus on the negative, but to focus on the positive. The glass is half full to me!

Yesterday we received the results from Kandis’ blood work. The doctor informed us that Kandis’ results were similar to a woman age 46 giving birth in terms of the baby’s development and his or her chances being born with Down syndrome. The doctor stated that the baby has a 1 and 21 chance of having the disorder. Statistically speaking, the results should have been around 1 and 300 chance, but…. What does that mean? Well, that means that the baby has approximately a 5% chance of being born with Down syndrome or a 95% chance of being born without it.

So, I decided to focus on the glass being 95% full! I am not going to claim that 5%! I am not going to say, “Oh the devil is a liar” and all that because I don’t feel that the results are from the devil. In fact I believe just the opposite. I believe that God is asking, “Where is your faith?” We began by anointing the baby with oil every night, what happened to that? Why aren’t we testifying about the goodness of Him, when it was Him that made it possible to be parents? And I am sure God is waiting to see how I handle this “test”. Will I fold? Will I say, “Why is this happening to me?” or “God are you punishing me for my past?” Been there, done that, and bought the T-shirt.

I am not going to consider the 5%, I see the glass 95% full!
